TRISH’S DREAM COMES TRUE…..
Trish Howie has been a tireless volunteer at the Old Railway Gallery in Pomona for many years so when she decided to “retire” at 85 years of age from her increasing responsibilities there earlier this year the Hinterland Art Group who are based at the gallery, decided to present her with something she REALLY wanted as a farewell gift.
During Alan Fall’s recent exhibition in the Carriage on the gallery site, Trish was constantly admiring her very favourite artwork created by Alan and so she was devastated to learn that it had been sold. So upset was Trish that whenever she popped into the gallery afterwards she couldn’t help herself…she just had to search the gallery records in the office (unsuccessfully of course) to try and find out who had purchased the painting she so desired. Unbeknowns to Trish, the Hinterland Art Group had funded the purchase of the art work and it had been safely hidden away (it should also be noted that Pomona Inc. generously donated their commission in this instance).
Last weekend Trish attended the birthday party of one of the HAG members and it was during the party that the painting was presented to her. To say Trish was shocked (but delighted of course) would be an understatement.
It is now proudly hanging prominently in her home. Here is a photo of Trish beside her art work.
